Bondax- All I See
This music video is from an electronic music duo, therefore the groups music is generically feel good and is made for the clubbing scene and celebrations. This is fitting to the music video as the overall music video connotes a summer, get-together vibe that is predominately shown through the special effects of the light leaks and DJ lights faded into most shots by post-production editing. The location of this music video looks as if it is filmed on a newly discovered isolated island, which is shown in the first establishing shots- this anchors with the first lyric “I don’t even know how I got here”. The video continues, with a series of medium tracking shots of the duo exploring the island. This connotes a sense of escapism to the audience as they can getaway from their ‘daily grind’ and into other worlds and situations whilst watching this video. This relates to the Uses and Gratifications theory of the need to escape. This is further shown by the low angle shot of the aeroplane's shadow as an aeroplane is travel icongraphy. Although, the location and settings have been chosen to make the audience want to escape, the actions of the actors and actress's are realistic and are reflections of real people having a social gathering and having a good time. The people and artists in the video are young adults which appeals to the audience as they are of a similar age. The video shows these young adults in group shots drinking with thier friends, laughing, playing football and partying this suggests the lifestyle the artists live themselves, and sells this to the audience. The frequency of cuts is timing to the beat of the music with is generic throughout electronic music videos. I like how they have a strong sense of setting throughout, with consistant overlays of shots of palm trees over a group shot or the ripples in the ocean over the crowd dancing. I think in our own video we can use these ideas and replicate some editing features.

This is the song ‘I know’ by shift key, all of the music video uses the rule of thirds by filming behind the same girl at the same angle and the same distance away and in the middle of the screen. I like the fact that they have done this but used different locations throughout the video but going back to the same locations at different times. This gave the video variation and made it more interesting to watch. All the locations where somewhere that we could use in our music video such as basic street, the beach a fair ground, also all the costume and mise en scene was relevant to the different locations. For example the bikini on the beach, the wine on the street and the sequin shots for the fair. I think that it was a simple idea but was really affective. As I have said before the shots are using the rule of thirds but it could also be said that they are from the male gaze, as the actor for the video is very stereotypical as she is skinny and probably seen as attractive even though we don’t see her face that often through the video. I also like the filter that is uses as it really reminds me of summer, and most songs that are set in summer are about going out and having a good time, this is the type of atmosphere that I would like to create in my video.
